Protecting yourself from extreme heat during summer is crucial for your health and well-being. Here are some tips to help you stay safe and cool.
1. Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water, throughout the day. Avoid excessive consumption of sugary or alcoholic beverages, as they can dehydrate you further. Carry a water bottle with you and sip water regularly, even if you don't feel thirsty.
2. Dress appropriately: Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, and light-colored clothing made from breathable fabrics like cotton or linen. These fabrics allow air circulation and help your body stay cool. Protect your head and face by wearing a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses.
3. Seek shade and limit sun exposure: Minimize your time in direct sunlight, especially during the hottest hours of the day (typically between 10 am and 4 pm). Seek shade whenever possible, and if you need to be outside, use umbrellas, canopies, or wear sun-protective clothing.
